Kitchen Tools Review: KitchenAid ® 3 PC Mixing Bowls

Not long ago, I mentioned to my husband that I didn't have enough mixing bowls in my kitchen. Bless him, he bought me this wonderful set of KitchenAid® red mixing bowls to match my red kitchen. The bowls have a handle grip on one side, with a pouring spout on the other. The base has a rubber ring that prevents the bowls from sliding around on the counter as I stir up soft batters. While I use the stand mixer for heavy batters and stiff icings, these bowls are great for a quick batch of pancakes, waffles, or any other thin batter. The plastic composition of the bowls is sturdy, and holds its shape during mixing. The smooth textured interior is easy to clean. They come in three nesting sizes: 2.5 quart, 3.5 quart, and 4.5 quart.

Highly recommended: Every kitchen needs a set of good mixing bowls. If you need a set, consider these. Great as a gift for any cook, young or old!

Kitchen Tools Review: KitchenAid ® Professional Fruit Slicer

I have mentioned before that I have carpal tunnel syndrome. I also have some arthritis in my hands. The KitchenAid® fruit slicer was irresistable to me when I found it. It is made well, so that the spines do not break loose. The heavy handles make it easier to hold on to the slicer while pushing it through the fruit. Most often, I use it to slice apples. The center section cores the apple for you so that it is ready to put on the plate when it is sliced into attractive, evenly proportioned wedges. No more kids yelling "He—or she as the case may be— got a bigger piece than me!" That alone makes this an attractive addition to the kitchen of any household with children! This tool makes school or work lunch preparation a snap. Just dip the apple or fruit slices in lemon water after slicing them to keep them from turning brown in the lunchbag. Hmmm...I wonder how it would work for slicing large muffins for serving to guests? I'll have to try that.

Highly recommended: In my opinion, every kitchen should have a fruit slicer. This particular slicer is the best one I have ever owned. The others broke around the center spine where the core is removed. This one has lasted for over a year, and still looks new. I handwash it and dry it rather than letting it air dry, since I want the steel blades looking new and staying sharp.
